One person was injured in a motorcycle collision near Steilacoom on Wednesday afternoon.

Just after 3:30 p.m. a 56-year-old man on a motorcycle was struck by a 38-year-old woman driving an eastbound SUV while stopped along westbound Steilacoom Road, near State Route 510. The impact pushed the motorcycle into a semi-truck parked stopped in front of it.

The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. No one else was injured.

Washington State Patrol reported that the cause of the crash as inattention, but not charges are being filed.

• Nine out of 10 motorcycle deaths in 1998 were males. Seventy-seven percent of the females who died in a motorcycle crash were passengers and 98% of males who died were drivers.
