One person was in a motorcycle accident near Shelton on Saturday morning.

Just after 10:30 a.m. a person was injured when their motorcycle collided with a car at the junction of Highway 101 and Highway 3.

The motorcyclist was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center. The highway was closed for over three hours while the crash site was investigated and cleared.

Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and has not released information as to what caused the crash.

• Forty-five percent of deaths in single-vehicle motorcycle crashes in 1998 included drivers with blood alcohol concentration at or above 0.10%.
• Nine out of 10 motorcycle deaths in 1998 were males. Seventy-seven percent of the females who died in a motorcycle crash were passengers and 98% of males who died were drivers.
