A woman was killed and two more were injured in a crash near Lakewood on Monday. Around 3:30 a.m. a minivan was headed north on Interstate 5 near the State Route 512 exit when it slowed down unexpectedly due to vehicle malfunction. A truck struck the back of the van and the two vehicles veered over two lanes of the freeway before coming to a stop on the left shoulder.
A 24-year-old woman who was sitting in the back of the van was killed in the collision. The driver of the van and an additional passenger were seriously injured and taken to local area hospitals. The truck driver was uninjured.
Two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 were closed until just before 8:30 a.m.
