One dead in motorcycle collision near Belfair on Saturday evening.

Before 6 p.m. while riding his motorcycle south on Highway 3, 42-year-old David A. Kahlvik was struck by a 25-year-old man driving north. The car veered into Kahlvik's lane and slammed head-on into his motorcycle. The car then spun out and struck a third car that had been following behind Kahlvik.

Kahlvik was ejected from his motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The at-fault driver was taken to Harrison Hospital with a broken ankle. No one was injured in the third car.

Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and charges are pending against the driver that struck Kahlvik.

  • Nine out of 10 motorcycle deaths in 1998 were males. Seventy-seven percent of the females who died in a motorcycle crash were passengers and 98% of males who died were drivers.
