One Dead Four Injured in Fatal SR-97 Accident

Outcome: One death, 4 injuries including 2 year old

A Fatal Accident on SR-97 left four people with injuries Sunday evening, including a two year old boy.

Dianna Tahkeal died at the scene of the accident. The 2 year old was flown to Harborview Medical Center where he is in critical condition. Two other children were taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and another passenger was released at the scene after he was treated for a few minor injuries.

According to Washington State Patrol (WSP), Dianna Tahkeal fell asleep at the wheel of her van shortly before 11 p.m. while driving just west of Toppenish. She drifted to the right shoulder, over corrected and caused her van to land upside down.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Dianna and we hope that the children make a full and rapid recovery from their injuries.
