Drunk Driver Causes Multi-Vehicle Pile Up

According to Seattle Police, six people were injured in a nine-car pileup near Northgate Mall yesterday.  Apparently a woman, who was under the influence of alcohol, was speeding through a busy intersection and caused the crash.  Officers had witnessed the woman driving erratically on NE 92nd Street at 1st Avenue NE moments before the crash.  A Seattle police officer had turned his vehicle around and had activated his emergency to peruse the woman when she suddenly accelerated through the intersection hitting multiple vehicles in the process.  One accident victim was taken to Harborview for critical injuries.  Five others were taken to other area hospitals for various injuries.
