New Report: More Than 12,000 Children Die Every Year in Accidents l Seattle Child Injury Attorney

The Centers for Disease Control recently published a new report which concludes that more than 12,000 children between the ages of 0 and 19 die each year in unintentional accidents.  More than 9.2 million kids are treated in emergency rooms each year for non-fatal injuries. The most common cause of death of children is motor vehicle accidents.

The report states:

1. Male children have a higher death rate than female children;
2. Transportation injuries (i.e., car accidents) are the leading cause of death for children;
3. For children ages 5 to 19, the leading cause of death is being an occupant in a car crash;
4. The death rates varied among race and the state where the child was harmed;
5. The majority of non-fatal injuries were due to (1) falls, (2) struck by object, (3) animal bites, (4) bee stings, and (5)  motor vehicle crashes.
