Location: Southbound I-5
Outcome: 1 injury
A woman was injured in a multi-car crash on Southbound I-5 around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
She was taken to Harborview Medical Center with what is thought to be non-life threatening injuries.
The accident, which took place on Southbound I-5 near the North 130th Street exit, was caused when the driver of a pickup-truck rear ended another car.
That car hit a second car and slid under a semi-truck which drug the car a ways before the driver of the semi-truck realized what had happened.
According to Fire Department Spokesman Dana Vander Houwen, the woman trapped under the semi had to be extricated from her car.
The crash shut down four of the five southbound lanes of I-5 for nearly an hour.
We hope that the woman injured in this multi-car crash is able to recover quickly.
National Car Accident Statisitcs state that car crashes cost each American more than $1,000 a year; averaging out to about $164.2 billion each year across the United States.
