Motorcyclist killed by Drunk Driver on Highway 7

A Tacoma man is facing possible charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, and illegal passing after a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Highway 7.

On Saturday afternoon, State troopers and medics were called to the scene on a curvy stretch of road on Highway 7. According to officials, an investigation has found that Tacoma resident Richard Hohn, 26, was driving north in his Toyota 4Runner when he attempted to pass two vehicles in front of him. A motorcyclist in the southbound lane was then forced to swerve into the Northbound lane to avoid the on coming 4Runner.

Unfortunately, the 4Runner then cut back into the northbound lane where the 2004 Suzuki motorcycle was struck. As a result of the collision, the driver of the motorcycle, Ernest Geer of Shoreline, 33, was thrown from the motorcycle and struck by a northbound SUV.

Geer was pronounced dead the scene of the accident and Washington State Patrol has confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

As previously stated, Hohn is now facing charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, and illegal passing.
