A motorcyclist was injured when he was hit by a car on Interstate 82, Thursday around 11:15 p.m.
William Kalichman, a Kennewick resident and driver of the motorcycle, was taken to Kennewick General Hospital.
The driver of the car, Alexa Aggeler of Prosser was uninjured.

According to Washington State Troopers, both vehicles were traveling westbound on I-82 when Aggeler went onto the right shoulder. When she returned to the roadway, she hit Kalichman's motorcycle.

Investigators cited inattention as the cause of this accident. Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Kalichman was wearing his helmet and Aggeler her seat belt at the time of the crash.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states that motorcyclists are about 35% more likely to be killed in accidents than automobile drivers. Wearing a helmet can reduce the risk of brain related injuries caused by a motorcycle accident by nearly 88%.
