Motorcycle accident injuries sent a Seattle police motorcycle officer to Harborview Medical Center Thursday morning near the Stewart Street exit and southbound Interstate 5.

A police spokeswoman stated that the officer suffered from bumps and bruises and is in stable condition at Harborview.

The officer was in the intersection of Stewart and Eastlake Avenue when, according to Seattle police Lieutenant P.L. Davis, he hit the ground and "laid down" his motorcycle when he was driving at low speeds.

The I-5 off ramp was shut down around 10 a.m. for an investigation which caused slowdowns for a few hours on the I-5 freeway.

The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation as the complex intersection has cars coming from multiple angles and directions.
