Motorcycle Car Crash Kills 2 in Monroe

MONROE - Thomas Devine, 44, of Newcastle, was riding his motorcycle south on Highway 203 at Tualco Road around 8:30 p.m. when a 1994 Pontiac attempted to merge onto the highway.  The Pontiac was driven by Myka Campbell, age 17, from Everett.

As Ms. Campbell attempted to merge onto the highway, Mr. Devine crashed his motorcycle into her.  The impact flipped the Pontiac onto its top.  Mr. Devine died at the scene.  Ms. Campbell and her passenger were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  Ms. Campbell later died at the hospital.

The crash tied up traffic and blocked the intersection for several hours.  The Washington State Patrol is continuing its investigation.  Preliminary accounts place blame on Ms. Campbell on her failure to yield to Mr. Devine when he had the right-of-way.
