SHELTON--An early morning hit-and-run crash which left a 23-year-old man dead has ended in an arrest. Apparently a Mason County man was struck from behind and killed around 2 a.m. Friday on the highway near Shelton. Another driver saw the body on the road and called 911. Troopers identified the victim as Louis M. Stevens a recent Mason County transplant who was originally from Bremerton. Troopers later caught the driver after he was involved in a second crash on State Route 101 near Purdy Cutoff Road just a little while later The driver was treated for minor injuries then booked into the Mason County Jail. He has been charged with felony hit and run.
This is such an awful tragedy. And to think the other driver did not stop or call for help. That is offensive. I extend my sympathies to Mr. Stevens' family and surviving relatives.
