A man is suing a surgeon over a medical malpractice case in which his penis was amputated four years ago.

The lawsuit that was filed by the man and his wife, were in court last week regarding the medical malpractice case.

The victim says that the procedure that took place in 2008, was supposed to have been a circumcision to treat inflammation, when the surgeon removed his penis. Damages in the lawsuit stem from “loss of service, love and affection.”

The doctor maintains the amputation was necessary because he found cancer during the surgery. Lawyers would not comment on the case.

The plaintiff’s attorney said that the situation was not an emergency and that the surgeon did not need to handle it the way that he did.

The defendant’s attorney persists that he had the right to perform and medical procedure that was deemed necessary.

The couple is also suing the hospital where the surgery took place. That lawsuit settled for an undisclosed amount.
