A pedestrian was killed in an attempt to cross the street in Kent Thursday evening.

Maximiliano Diaz-Salazar of Kent was found unconscious in the left northbound lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

According to Washington State Patrol, Diaz-Salazar attempted to cross SR 515, a 5-lane highway near 220th Place SE around 5:50 p.m. He started across after an SUV passed him in the first lane but was hit by a pickup in the second lane.

Road conditions, weather, alcohol and drugs were not factors in this crash.

Diaz-Salazar was not in a crosswalk when he was hit. Washington State Patrol says this accident emphasizes the importance for pedestrian to use a crosswalk when crossing the street.
