A 28-year-old Montesano man was driving on 192nd Avenue Northeast, south of Convington, when his pickup truck lost control and crashed through a guardrail. The truck landed on its top in Covington Creek, trapping the driver in the cab in three feet of running water.
People who witnessed the crash, stopped to help the unconscious driver. Unable to break the windows or open the doors, they managed to roll the pickup truck back on its wheels.
The driver was being strangled by his seat belt so one of the witnesses cut him free with a knife.
The driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
