A 23-year-old man from Oxnard, CA was arrested Tuesday in Silverdale for driving under the influence. He was initially reported to 911 by a witness who saw him driving southbound on Highway 3 traveling at about 30 mph. A trooper witnessed the driver exit the highway, run a red light, and stop at a green light before pulling them over at the intersection of Silverdale Way and Byron Street.

When the trooper approached the car the driver put his 2001 Volvo in reverse and crashed into the trooper's patrol car. After telling the man to stop, the trooper was forced to physically remove the man from his car, who was incoherently insisting that he had to go to the Kitsap Mall.

A cigarette butt and synthetic marijuana was found when they searched the man and his vehicle. He refused to take a sobriety test so he was arrested and taken to the Naval Hospital in Bremerton for evaluation, and appeared yesterday in Kitsap County District Court.
