An 18-year-old man had to be airlifted by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center on Tuesday after a tractor backed over him and crushed his leg. Snoqualmie Fire Department responded to the call around 10:30 a.m. but it took them 40 minutes to reach the site located near Southeast Mill Pond Road and Weyerhauser Mill Road because they had to travel on tight, maze-like logging roads.

They had been working under cramped conditions when the tractor had backed up on top of the worker and pulled him under its metal treads. Medics worked on stemming the blood loss and keeping the victim warm until the helicopter unit arrived. Witnesses claimed that there was deep mud where the accident occured which could have helped lessen the injury. Authorities don't think he will lose his leg, but it is still a serious injury.
