A man sustained life-threatening pedestrian accident injuries when he was hit in South Downtown Seattle Thursday evening.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The accident took place just after five in the evening. According to Seattle Police the man was walking on an elevated part of Highway 99 just south of Safeco and Qwest fields. The section he was walking on was a six-lane highway with no pedestrian access and a concrete barrier in the middle.

One of the lanes was shut down for a few hours while police investigated the accident.
