Date: June 10, 2010
Location: Tukwila on Interstate 5
Type: Car Accidents, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Rear End Collision
Outcome: One Dead, Three Injured
In one of the most disheartening stories of the year, a young man who was set to graduate from high school this Saturday was killed when the car he was riding was rear ended by a suspected drunk driver on I-5 near the South Center Mall last night at around 10:30 pm last night.
Last night, Derek King and two friends were traveling southbound in a Honda Civic on Interstate 5. As traffic slowed so did the Honda the young men were traveling in, that is when a man driving a Ford Explorer rear ended them at a very high rate of speed, killing King, and seriously injuring to the two other passengers. The driver of a Explorer, a 50 year old who has not been identified, was suspected of being intoxicated and he may be booked for investigation of vehicular homicide.
Derek King was scheduled to the graduate this Saturday from Decatur High School in Federal Way and would have turned 18 today.
The 50-year-old man who was driving the Explorer was also taken to Harborview Medical Center, but his condition was not known.
From everyone at Davis Law Group, our hearts and prayers to go out to the families of everyone involved in this terrible collision, specifically Derek King. This young man's life was taken from him right as it was just getting started. Once again, our sincerest condolences go out to the families of all involved.
