As the price of gas continues to soar, more and more Seattle commuters are putting on their walking shoes, riding their bikes, scooters or motorcycles, or taking the bus. The good news is that, while also helping the environment, fewer cars on the road should mean fewer car accidents. But the flip side is that that this trend will likely cause an increase in the number of pedestrian, crosswalk, and small-vehicle accidents.
In fact, my office has already been experiencing an increase in calls related to motorcycle accidents, crosswalk accidents, scooter crashes, and similar injury cases. Injuries from these types of accidents can be just as serious as those sustained in a car accident. In many cases they may be more serious as the pedestrian or cyclist does not have the protection that is provided by the body of a large vehicle, seat belts, airbags, etc. And often the victim is thrown a great distance as a result of the accident.
If you have been injured in a pedestrian collision, crosswalk accident, motorcycle crash, or scooter incident you can learn more about these types of accidents by visiting the library section of our website. There you will find reports, statistics, news stories, and more. If you need assistance with your case call my office at 206-7272-4000.
