A deadly car accident killed four people on Highway 9 near Marysville around 6:15 Sunday evening.

Detectives allege that Matthew McDonald of Snohomish was heading eastbound on 108th Street in his 2005 Ford Explorer when he ran a stop sign in the intersection of Highway 9 and crashed into a 2007 Hyundai Azera.

The four people in the Azera, Bradley and Melissa Agerup and Thomas and Hilda Woods, were friends and neighbors from Snohomish. They were killed when their and McDonald's car went off the road.

McDonald fled the scene of the accident but later returned. Both he and his passenger received minor injuries.

We are sorry to hear of such a tragic loss and the families and friends of Bradley, Melissa, Thomas and Hilda are in our thoughts and prayers.
