A family of four was injured in a collision near Mount Vernon on Thursday.While driving northbound on Interstate 5, a 27-year-old woman driving an SUV drifted onto the shoulder then over-corrected by flipping her vehicle.
A 3-month-old baby boy was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining serious head injuries. The 27-year-old driver and her two other children ages six and seven, were also injured. Everyone was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital but the infant was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and reported the distracted driving was the cause of the crash.
