Ford Motor is being investigated regarding complaints of the Ford Freestyle Crossover vehicle expectedly lunges when driving at low speeds or idling. There have been over 239 complained regarding this
auto defect problem on the 2005 through 2007 models. A total of 18 minor car accidents have been associated with this problem and just one minor injury.
NHTSA reported that this problem could potentially be from faulty fuel tank mounting straps on Ford F-series pickups to include 2.73 million F-150 trucks from 1997 to 2001.
There have been more than 243 rust strap incidents on the Ford pickup trucks. These rusty straps could fail, which would allow the tank to fall from the trucks.
This auto defect investigation covers about 170,000 Freestyles. Regulators will decide if a recall is necessary.
Details on the investigation are continuing to increase and will do so until the investigation is complete.
