Five cars were involved in a collision on Interstate 5 near Castle rock on Sunday afternoon due to severe weather conditions. Around 5 p.m. on northbound Interstate 5, 21-year-old Katie Maxie hit a patch of hailstones and lost control. Her car spun around and struck 68-year-old Thomas Markley.
As Peter Mark, 53, slowed down as he approached the collision, he was struck from behing by 88-year-old Charles Wilson.
Jo Ann Jennings, 66, swerved to avoid Mark and Wilson and crashed her vehicle in to a Department of Transportation road sign.
Maxie injured her chest and foot and Markley had abdominal injuries. Wilson had leg pain and his passenger, 87-year-old Frances Wilson suffered a facial injury. All victims were treated at St. John Medical Center then released.
No citations were issued and all parties were wearing seat belts.
