Five people were injured in a two-car collision near Port Townsend on Friday morning.

Around 9 a.m. while driving on State Route 104, a Toyota SUV carrying a family of four collided head-on with a Chevrolet sedan after a failed attempt to pass a semi truck.

The Toyota's driver, 37-year-old Andrew J. Pyle and his three other passengers, including two children ages 2 and 12, suffered various serious injuries including facial, leg, hand, neck, and chest.

The Chevrolet's driver, 27-year-old Unai P. Golkoetxeta suffered facial, abdominal, leg and thigh injuries.

Three people were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, and the two remaining people were taken to Harrison Medical Center.

Over 30 emergency firefighters and medical personnel responded to the accident and State Route 104 was closed for over an hour. Washington State Patrol is investigating the accident and charges may be pending.
