Federal Way organized its first ever Community Bike Ride. The Federal Way Police Department’s Bike Squad teamed up with bikers throughout the city to
promote bicycle safety. Before the event, Federal Way Community Center Supervisor Doug Nelson said that this is a great opportunity for residents in the area to learn about bike safety.
“Encouraging
cycling in the city is all about finding a comfort level,” Federal Way Community Center Supervisor said Doug Nelson said. “The Community Bike Ride is an opportunity for cyclists of all ages and ability levels to come together and discover safe routes and interesting destinations.”
The event started at 10 a.m. and consisted of an 8.2 mile bike ride that started at the Federal Way Community Center and continued along the BPA Trail and through several city streets.
All ages and skill levels were welcome to join. Everyone was required to wear a helmet and fill out a release on the day of the event.
