Fatal Semi Truck Accident on 1-5

Coors Lite Delivery Truck Collision Near Arlington

Just after 3:30 a.m. a Honda Accord traveling southbound on I-5 near 172nd Street NE was rear-ended by a delivery truck (Coors Lite). Apparently the semi-truck was following behind the Honda and tried to brake but rear-ended the car instead. The front and back end of the Honda were completely smashed in.

The 87-year-old driver of the Honda was taken to Harborview Medical Center for serious injuries. He was last reported in critical conditional. The female passenger was killed in the crash. The truck driver was not hurt.

Washington State Patrol troopers are still investigating the crash and believe that the Honda was either driving very slowly or was stopped on the highway. 

Based on news reports of this accident, the cause is currently unknown. At this point it has not been determined if the crash was due to negligent driving, road conditions, or some other factor. Clearly a more detailed investigation is warranted.
