Elementary School Boy Recovering after Head Injury

Las Cruces, NM-School officials in Las Cruces, N.M. say a first-grade student required brain surgery after he was hurt in while in a shoving match aboard a school bus.

The injured boy was immediately taken to a hospital in El Paso where he was doing better Wednesday, school district spokeswoman Jo Galvan said. According to Galvin, the students were riding home on the bus on Wednesday April 14, when a student was pushed causing him to fall and hit his head.

Galvan said both boys would likely be questioned before any disciplinary action is taken. School officials have yet to determine whether or not bullying was the cause of the incident.

Due to the age of the boys, their names were not released.
