An elderly woman crashed into the Denny’s Pet World store in Kirkland Tuesday after she failed to brake when she was parking in front of the business. No animals inside the store were injured, and the driver and a patron inside the store suffered minor injuries.
“She was pulling in to park at Denny’s Pet World in one of the disabled slots and didn’t find the brake,” said Lt. Mike Murray of the Kirkland Police Department. “The car stopped about two-thirds of the way into the store and knocked over a shelf, which struck another woman inside.”
Emergency crews took the driver to nearby Evergreen Hospital, which happened to be just a couple of blocks from the store. The woman injured by the falling shelf said she would visit the hospital as a precaution.
