An elderly man, whose name has yet to be released, was attempting to cross Route 164 from 196th Avenue Southeast in his Buick Friday afternoon, when he pulled out in front of an eastbound Ford Explorer.
According to a Washington State Patrol trooper, the Explorer T-boned the man’s Buick while traveling at the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour.
An elderly woman who was a passenger in the Buick was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition. Three females, who were passengers in the Explorer, were taken to Auburn Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. The elderly driver of the Buick did not survive the crash.
Traffic was backed up for nearly four hours as spectators were on their way to “Summer Jam” music festival at the Muckleshoot’s White River Amphitheatre.
