Around midnight on Friday, a pickup truck left the Highway 101 two miles north of Brinnon, clipped a power pole, and crashed into a ditch. The 1990 Ford F450 pickup truck was driven by 27-year-old David Hill of Woodland. He sustained head, hand, and internal injuries and was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton along with his passenger 26-year-old Joshua Bessey of Kalama who suffered a head injury.
The truck was totaled and the wreckage blocked Highway 101 for over an hour and a half. The accident caused fuel and 300 gallons of hydroseed chemical to spill onto the roadway but the Department of Ecology said it did not present an environmental hazard.
According to State Patrol, the accident was caused by the driver being under the influence of alcohol and he will be charged with the following offenses: DUI, driving with a suspended license, not wearing a seatbelt, and not having insurance. His passenger was also charged with not wearing a seatbelt.
