A pickup truck and freight train collision happened at a train crossing early Thursday morning in Stanwood.
There were no known injuries. The driver of the truck was missing after the crash took place.
The crash took place around 1:40 in the morning when a 43 car train was going through Stanwood. The train was going about 25 miles per hour when the truck hit the seventh train car from the end of the train.
The truck was drug by the train for a half a mile. An empty tank car was derailed.
The track delayed about six trains until the Stanwood crossing was reopened again around 10:30 a.m.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas said he was "mystified" by the collision because the truck had to roll uphill to get to the crossing.
It was not thought that anyone was inside the truck when the crash took place.
Statistics from the US Department of Transportation state that there are nearly 5,800 car and train accidents each year in the United States. Usually these happen at railroad crossings.
