Date: February 25, 2011, 02/25/2011
Location: North Seattle, King County, Washington
Type: Car accident,
DUIOutcome: One injured
A car was traveling northbound on 15th Avenue Northeast and failed to stop at a "road closed" sign and barrier at Northeast 104th Street, causing the driver serious injury.
The Mercedes Benz crashed through the barrier and drove an additional 200 feet before hitting a parked construction truck and bridging equipment.
When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the driver unresponsive and firefighters had to remove the roof of the car to get him out. Seattle police smelled alcohol on the driver. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
A witness claimed that icy conditions were not the cause of the crash because they saw the Mercedes Benz speeding down the road before slamming into the truck. No one else was injured in the collision.
