One woman died and four others were injured in a deadly car accident in Seattle around 10:50 Friday night.

An elderly woman with serious injuries was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Three others injured in the accident were also taken to Harborview.

The accident took place in the 2800 block of South Orcas Street.

Troopers responded to the scene of the crash where a Toyota and Suzuki had collided in the middle of the block after one of the vehicles slid in the ice and crossed the centerline.

When medics arrived, the elderly woman was unresponsive.

Winter weather car accident statistics show that in a period of thirty years, there have been 978 winter weather-related fatalities.
