Class Action Lawsuit Against Farmers Insurance Settles Nov. 29

On November 29, 2011 a class action lawsuit against Farmers Insurance was settled. The plaintiffs in the lawsuit allege that the insurance company did not pay reasonable expenses for medical services to their customers for car accidents under personal injury protection and med-pay. The company denied the claims.

The settlement includes Farmers Insurance Company, Inc., Farmers Insurance Exchange, Truck Insurance Exchange, Mid-Century Insurance Company, Fire Insurance Exchange, Illinois Farmers Insurance Company, Farmers Group, Inc., and other related parties.

Settlement details: those who submitted claims for payment of medical bills associated with a car accident; if the claim was adjusted from January 1, 2001 to February 9, 2009; if the claim was paid at less than the amount; and total med-pay or PIP payments were less than the respective limits of coverage.
