MARYSVILLE, WA. -- Yesterday morning a young boy was hit by a car while riding his bike. The accident occurred about 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of 88th Street NE and State Avenue in Marysville, Washington.
The child is in middle school. His name and age were not available. The child was on his way to school when he was hit by the car. The name of the person driving the car was also not reported. No details or facts of the accident were reported either. Anyone with information is asked to call the Marysville Police Department at 360-363-8300.
This is the time where motorists need to exercise more caution now that school has begun. Statistics show that child-pedestrian and child-car accidents increase during the start of school. Parents are also advised to talk to their children about the increased risk of motorists driving too fast or too close to children walking on the side of the road. Children need to understand where they must walk while traveling to school. Also, parents should inform their children to only cross the road at marked cross walks. A good idea for parents is to trace the child’s route to and from school while in the car with the child. You can point out potential danger locations or areas where children should avoid.
