A Buick LeSabre was trying to drive up a steep hill on South 144th St in Tukwila when it lost traction and slid backwards, crashing through a fence and hitting an embankment before flipping over on its top on the Link Light Rail tracks.
The driver was able to escape from the vehicle with only minor injuries. A train traveling on the same track saw the blockage and was able to stop in time. Passengers had to ride a Sound Transit-provided bus from Rainier Beach to Tukwila. The wreckage was cleared and the trains began running again within two hours.
