SEATTLE - A man was killed when his SUV raced through a red light and smashed into another car in downtown Seattle. Apparently his Ford Explorer was headed westbound on Yesler Way down the steep hill at a high rate of speed. He then ran the red light at Third Avenue and smashed into a small Honda that was headed southbound. The impact caused the Explorer to become airborne, where it flipped and struck a pole, before landing on its roof. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Honda and her maile passenger were taken to Harborview Medical Center but were not seriously injured.
