Chris Davis' Legal Comment: There have been a handful of catastrophic injuries and fatalities resulting from accidents where the state’s cable barriers either failed completely or contributed to a more severe accident. There have been serious questions raised in the legal community about the utility of using cable barriers instead of concrete barriers. My own personal opinion is that concrete barriers likely save more lives and that the additional expense of using these barriers over cable is outweighed by the protection of human life.
