Business Question of The Day: Should your company participate in 'National Take Your Dog To Work Day'?

More and more dogs are going to work.  Dog-friendly business practices and policies are allowing more and more employees to bring well-behaved pets to work. In fact, recent survey by the American Pet Products Association Manufacturers found that 20% of companies now have pet-friendly policies (though experts believe most are very small businesses).

National Take Your Dog To Work Day is intended to promote how dogs can boost staff morale and productivity while reducing workplace stress. But having dogs in a business environment creates serious liability issues for the business owners, dog owners, and building owners that choose to participate. If a company allows employees to bring dogs to work and one of those dogs attacks a customer or another employee the company and even the building owner can be held liable and required to pay medical bills and other damages.
