Blue Bird Bus Recalls 3,900 Buses for Fire Hazard

blue bird bus recall3,900 large Blue Bird school buses are being recalled for a potential fire hazard. There is possibility of the start cable rubbing against a power steering hose that could potentially start a fire. The model years 2004 through 2006 are being recalled.

Routine inspections by customers began uncovering abrasions on some cables which is how they learned of the potential problem. Through a Blue Bird inspection, they found that about 5% of the buses had chafing on the starter cable. Blue Bird will install a clamp to keep the starter cable and hose apart, on the buses that are experiencing this problem. This will be a free service due to the auto defect.

The school bus manufacturer has experienced other recalls in the past year besides this recent case. There are roughly 480,00 Blue Bird school buses on the road.
