The Bellingham Police Department suspects alcohol had a role in a recent
pedestrian vs. motor vehicle accident that occured around 5:45pm Tuesday evening in Bellingham. Michael G. Lewis, 60, walked into the Meridian Street north of Westerly Road during rush-hour traffic and was struck by an oncoming car. He sustained injuries to his legs and possible internal injuries. He was initially taken to St. Joseph hospital but had to be airlifted to Harborview Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
