The most uncertain part
of driving – other drivers.
Other driver’s behavior can change abruptly, leaving you no time to react. While driving, follow these rules:
• Expect the unexpected
• Stay focused.
• Pay attention.
These basic tips can help you reach your destination safely:
- Make sure everyone in your vehicle is wearing a seat belt
- Be well-rested and in a suitable mindset to drive. If you are driving while you are upset or angry, it is just as dangerous as driving while you are tired. It may be considered negligent driving by the law.
- Do not tailgate, under any circumstance. Even if they are traveling under the speed limit, do not get too close to them.
- Give yourself enough time to get where you need to go. Being in a hurry is distracting in itself.
- Make sure your vehicle is in good shape and properly maintained.
- Driver distractions reduce your awareness to your driving environment, such as the vehicles around you. As stated before – other drivers are unpredictable! You need to have your full attention on the road and be ready to react to their abrupt changes.
Other distracted driving habits:
- Pet on your lap while driving
- Eat a sloppy cheeseburger
- Applying make-up
- Shaving
Use your common sense!
