The Washington State Patrol is going to be focusing all of their time enforcing drivers under the influence. They will be looking for any unusual driving behaviors. As always, drive safe this weekend.
They ask for your cooperation in being a responsible driver in order to make this a fun and safe holiday weekend. A few tips from WSP:
- Under any circumstances, do not drink and drive
- Stay where you are or have a planned designated driver PRIOR to drinking if you know that you need to leave.
2. Follow the speed limits posted
- Be aware of construction zones. If someone is driving very slow or very fast, give yourself distance from that vehicle, as they may be under the influence. Just because you are a responsible driver does not mean that everyone else will be.
3. Be extra patient.
- Due to a lot of traffic and construction zones, give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
WSP’s goal is to prevent injury and fatalities. They plan to be very proactive to prevent unnecessary tragedy caused by drunk drivers. If you see someone driving negligent or show unusual behavior, call 911 as soon as possible.
Help them, help us! Together, we can have a safe 4th of July.
