A Trooper Hit by a Driver on I-405 Experiences Leg Injury

A driver under the influence hit a trooper and a violator that were outside their vehicles on the shoulder of I-405.

Around 11:45 pm on June 30, Trooper Michael Porter, a two and a half year veteran with the Washington State Patrol stopped a BMW X3. He was conducting a DUI investigation on the shoulder of the freeway when a green Acura Integra hit his patrol car and pushed it into the back of the BMW. At the time of the incident, Trooper Porter was putting the man under arrest in his vehicle for being intoxicated.

The person driving the Integra was a 26-year-old woman from Shoreline. She is now under investigation for DUI and Vehicular Assault.

All three parties were transported to Overlake Medical Center with possible serious injuries. Trooper Porter experienced leg injuries where the he was struck by the BMW, and has since been released to his home.
