June 24 was the beginning for the re-stripping work that will remove the center turn lane from 20th Avenue Northwest between Market Street and Northwest 65t Street, which will be replaced with a bike lane in both directions.
The Seattle Department of Transportation blogged that they believe this section of the street is a suitable candidate for these changes because it is not a high traffic area and it is not a route for buses or freight. They also said that parking, traffic, or access to residential streets will not be affected in this reconstruction. Specifically these
bike lanes are to help cyclist get to the Ballard Business District.
Some Neighbors of the street are concerned.
There is no completion date at this time.
