A Driver Hits a WSP Trooper Car on I-5

A Washington State Patrol trooper was hit by a man driving on I-5 near Des Moines.
The driver apparently lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the officer’s patrol car.

The car accident took place during rush hour traffic yesterday, police said.

No one was injured in the crash.

Trooper John Pierce said that his car was parked on the shoulder lane of the freeway when a pickup truck hit the side of his car after being cut off by another driver.

“I heard him skidding and turned around just in time to see him hit my patrol car and then go sideways in front of me. And as difficult as it may be to admit you know, I yelled an expletive as I was jumping away from the cars,” said Pierce.

The driver who hit the trooper’s car cooperated with investigators, pulling on to the side of the road. He is not expected to be cited.
