Man hit while removing tire chains on I-5 l Kent Car Accident Lawyer

Outcome:  Serious Injuries

Around 1 p.m. a 53-year-old man on I-5 near Kent stopped to take his tire chains off and was hit by an oncoming car. The man was in the right lane on I-5 just south of Highway 516 when he stopped on the freeway and attempted to take his chains off.  

Trooper Curt Boyle said the man flew about 80 feet forward after the other car drifted over, hit his car and then him. He was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center. 

Trooper Boyle said the accident was preventable.

Another DUI Crash Severely Injures

SULTAN, WA -- This weekend produced another possible DUI crash that occurred in Highway 2 near Sultan.  Just after midnight on Saturday, a 33-year-old man from Monroe was severely injured after driving head-on into another vehicle without headlights.  Two other occupants, young females, were also injured but suffered less severe injuries.

The Washington State Patrol states that the man was likely intoxicated because he was swerving down Highway 2 in the darkness without headlights.  However, his parking lights appeared to be on.

The man crossed over the center line just west of Sultan at Fern Bluff Road and crashed head-on into the other vehicle, knocking it on its side, said the investigating Trooper.  The man told police at the scene that he drank a six-pack of beer before driving. He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.

The female driver of the other vehicle was transported to Harborview by ambulance with head lacerations and a broken ankle. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening. Her passenger had minor injuries and was taken to Valley Hospital in Monroe.

Outcome: 1 seriously injured

A pedestrian was seriously injured by a bicyclist in the Beacon Hill Neighborhood of Seattle Tuesday evening.

The pedestrian was taken to Harborview Medical Center with possible life threatening head injuries.

The accident took place around 4:45 p.m. at Beacon Avenue south and South College Street. The bicyclist was travelling north on Beacon Avenue and the pedestrian was crossing Beacon Avenue near College Street when he was hit.

The bicyclist was unable to slow down and stop causing him to hit the pedestrian. His injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.

Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as factors in this crash.

Two thirds of pedestrian deaths occur in urban areas, even though the speed is oftentimes slower in an urban area. The urban areas also have high vehicle and pedestrian traffic that raises the likelihood of accidents versus rural areas where the population is a lot more sparsely populated.
