At approximately 6:30am Washington State Patrol was called to a rollover accident that involved seven vehicles in the southbound lanes of I-5. At about 7:00am a parked ambulance that was attending the accident was struck in the rear by a motorcycle traveling in the HOV lane headed northbound. Apparently the rider of the motorcycle was looking over at the crash in the southbound lane and did not see the ambulance in front of him. He is now in serious but stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.

A 42-year-old Snohomish woman was taken by helicopter to a Seattle hospital Tuesday afternoon. She lost control of her SUV causing it to rollover on I-5 at Island Crossing. Two teen girls were also taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
It took crews about an hour to get the I-5 accident cleaned up.
A multiple-car accident blockedthe two left lanes of northbound Interstate 5 at Albro Place causing a large traffic jam for two miles south of the crash site. The exact details of the morning rush hour accident are unknown. But apparently two people were injured in the crash.

A 65-year-old Edmonds man was traveling southbound on I-5 when a loose steel rod went through the driver's side windshield and became lodged in the dashboard of his Chevrolet minivan.
The man was not injured, and the driver who lost the steel rod was not caught.
This occurrence is another in a series of unsecured load incidents that the State Patrol has recently been investigating.

Dense fog was a contributing factor in a multiple car crash that resulted in the south lanes of Interstate 5 being closed for more than an hour. Apparently several cars collided on the freeway overpass during a period of extremely heavy fog and slick road conditions. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. The incident started at 7:10 a.m., when two cars collided. Then approaching cars tried to stop but could not avoid hitting the cars. A total of eight cars were involved in the pileup. The road was clear and traffic moving freely again by about 8:30am.

Three people were injured when a car hit a parked Washington State patrol car on I-5 in Seattle.
Apparently the teenage driver of the car was speeding and under the influence at the time of the accident. He was cited for both. The accident happened on Southbound 1-5.
The trooper and other injured individulas were taken to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center.

MARYSVILLE - Woman struck by car found dead along I-5
Police say a woman whose body was found along Interstate 5 early this morning appears to have been struck by a car or truck while she was walking.
Apparently the woman appears to have been walking along 34th Avenue Northwest near the interstate when she was hit.
The speed limit on a six-mile portion of I-5 in Seattle will begin changing several times a day when the Transportation Department completes the installation of new overhead electronic signs. The Seattle Transportation Department believes that variable speed control will help traffic flow more smoothly and prevent rear-end collisions. For overhead electronic signs will be installed in the northbound lanes next year between Boeing Field and I-90.

FEDERAL WAY - A man was driving a Mazda northbound on Military Road South this morning when he lost control of his vehicle, struck a curb and veered into the southbound lane hitting a Ford pick-up. The driver of the pick-up was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene.
REDMOND - One person is dead in a Redmond car crash that involved four vehicles this afternoon. The accident happened near the intersection of 228th and Redmond Fall City Road. At this time it appears the heavy ran had something to do with the accident.
CENTRALIA - Two men tried to run across Interstate 5 north of Centralia, and one was hit by a car and killed. The man who was hit was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital and later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He died from massive head injuries.
NORTH BEND - A car accident at North Bend Way and Winery Road near Interstate 90 has claimed the life of a four-month-old baby. Dustin Mathew Sattleberg suffered extremely critical injuries and died about nine hours after the collision. He had been riding in a car seat.

SEATTLE - Cerrissa Christensen, who had a history of driving under the influence, was drunk on Oct. 9 when she drove 90 mph in the wrong direction on Interstate 5, causing a head-on collision that left one teenager dead and another seriously injured. She was sentenced today to 6 ½ years in prison, the maximum sentence under state law. At the time of the accident Christensen had a blood-alcohol level of 0.25 percent (legal limit is 0.08). The crash killed Bawny McQuistin, 18, and injured Eric Hillstrom, 19, both of Tacoma.

All southbound lanes have now been opened on I-5 at 220th Street Southwest. An injury accident blocked the lanes this morning but the scene has been cleared.

There were more than 10 car accidents on Interstate 5 through Bellingham which slowed traffic on Friday. Apparently a tanker truck from a local refinery had been leaking oil or diesel fuel on the southbound lanes in Bellingham causing slick road conditions. The Washington State Department of Transportion spread sand on the stretch of highway to provide more traction to motorists.
The majority of the wrecks were minor and caused only minor injuries. Most occurred in the southbound lanes of I-5 through Bellingham. Cars spun out as drivers tried to brake on the slick road. Cars hit other vehicles, signs and guardrails. Rubberneckers in the northbound lanes were distracted and caused a few accidents in the other direction.

A motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident on Interstate-5 around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Rodney Johnson was taken to St. John Medical Center with injuries consisting of broken fingers, a sprained wrist and cuts to his head.
According to Washington State Patrol, a dark colored car was driving aggressively going northbound on I-5. The driver of the car suddenly changed lanes near milepost 27, hitting the back of Johnson's 2009 Harley Davidson.
The impact from the car threw Johnson into the grass on the median and knocked his bike 150 yards ahead of him onto the right shoulder.
With gas prices going up, more and more people are buying motorcycles. Unfortunately that increase in motorcycle sales has led to a 50% increase in motorcycle related deaths. That means there are over 4700 deaths related to motorcycles in the United States.

An early morning crash on I-5 has killed the driver of a semitrailer. Apparently the driver, a 49-year-old Renton man, was still in training and had only been driving for 3 weeks. His instructor/trainer was asleep in the back of the truck. The driver lost control of the truck and crashed into the Eastside Street overpass. The cargo, a load of produce, spilled onto I-5 causing traffic to back up on both north and southbound lanes.

A car cut off a semi-truck in the southbound lanes of I-5 on the Ship Canal Bridge around mid-day. The truck crashed into the left lane barrier, sending debris into the northbound lanes. Apparently a motorcyclist traveling north in the left lane was hit by the debris and crashed. The driver of the motorcycle suffered a broken arm and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Several lanes of I-5 were blocked in both directions for hours.
